Faith Experiences

Bethel College is affiliated with the Mennonite Church (USA).

We are proud of our anabaptist roots and those values guide our vision of the future.

Most of our students don’t come from a Mennonite/anabaptist background.

We have students of all Christians denominations, Islamic and Jewish traditions, and non-religious students.

All are welcome at Bethel College.

You will have opportunities to grow in your faith through coursework and spiritual life organizations.

Your final required course is a capstone  experience called Basic Issues of Faith & Life in which students are tasked with articulating their own beliefs – whatever they are.

Learn more about The Thresher Way.

Bethel College was founded in 1887. And that makes it the oldest Mennonite College in North America. The particular emphasis of the Mennonites was on modeling their own lives after Jesus. This led to lives of simplicity and service and refusing to do violence to others. Those same commitments continue to play themselves out at Bethel College. Bethel College does not aspire to be solely a Mennonite institution, and it welcomes diverse perspectives and backgrounds into its community chapel services, for example that we have at Bethel College strive to represent diverse backgrounds and to be inclusive and sensitive to those backgrounds. Bible religion classes at Bethel College, help you continue to learn how to think critically about texts, how to read critically, how to write critically, specifically in the context of religion with which for a lot of students is an area that is really interesting. And so that combination can make for for really engaged classrooms, where students are really motivated to learn a lot.
