Uniquely Bethel

Bethel College is the oldest Mennonite college in North America.

Our Mennonite heritage is felt by all our students – whatever their faith background.

Students experience unique Bethel traditions such as fall festival, Christmas Gala, Lighting of the Green, and the Bubbert’s film festival every year.

Herman Bubbert, the namesake for the film festival, is a fictitious character invented by Bethel students over 60 years ago.

When a prank happens on campus – like the baby calf outside the Caf or the apples mysteriously on every light post – we blame Herman Bubbert.

Bethel College was founded in 1887. That makes it the oldest Mennonite College in North America Bethel College is shaped largely by Mennonite heritage, which is really a fun part of the college because you can meet a bunch of different people from a bunch of different religions and everyone's accepted. The Mennonite community is a very peaceful community so you always feel really welcomed at Bethel. Bethel's so great because of the small class size, we have a 12 to 1 student to faculty ratio, and an average class size of 21. The personal connection that I have with my professors is super unique at Bethel because I feel like it's very genuine. The professors know me personally and just take time out of their day to make sure that I'm okay and to making sure that I'm successful for my future and that whatever goals I have set I can achieve those.
